JDK 26: Second Release Candidate

It is unfortunate that the patch was rushed without a clear explanation of why it was needed and 
without any discussion in the PR:

A follow up ticket has now been filed as a regression
https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8377905
Could someone please take a look at this when possible
