I'm not involved in JDK updates but a back port from JDK 12 to 8u does 
beg the question as to whether the change will also be backported to 
11u. I see there is discussion on jdk-updates-dev about the approvals 
for 11u but in the mean time then maybe backport issues should be 
created to at least track what will otherwise be regressions moving from 
8u to 11u.
