Thanks for the quick review, Martin.

What are your thoughts on moving 8u over to vanguard? The patch so far
is looking relatively straight-forward (the difficulty is a bunch of
refactoring in 11u, plus some superfluous changes in the changeset) and
I don't fancy relying on rearguard being continually available, given 8u
may be around for a while yet.
