Maintaners are free to close the bug as "Won't fix". But at least it will show up in critical-requests queues.

Regarding 8u vs 11u. It's unclear what was a target java for the workaround initially. But it seems people used it on newer versions and found no issues. So if we decide to revert, we need that in both 8u and 11u.
