JMC - 6173: feedback

Hi Carmine,

JMC 5.5 was released before the open sourcing of JMC, so that code sits in a repo 
at Oracle. That said, I think in this case it would be better to look at the existing code
anyways and try to make it work for local paths and the current working directory.
