Dear Lambdopters;

As some of you have noticed the focus of lambda development has now moved away from the lambda/lambda repo to the jdk8/tl repo. We will no longer be publishing preview builds of the lambda repository. The lambda/lambda repo will be maintained as a staging area for some development and spec work. For most purposes developers should be looking to the weekly preview builds of jdk8/jdk8 master (http://jdk8.java.net/download.html). For people who prefer to make their own builds and live on the bleeding edge, the jdk8/tl repo is where development will be taking place going forward during JDK 8.

The lambda preview builds were a very useful vehicle for testing and getting community feedback. We appreciate the efforts of all those who took the time to download and try the builds. Thanks also go to those who created their own builds. Your feedback and bug reports were invaluable in ensuring that the lambda efforts were a success. Thank you!

The JDK8 "Developer Preview" (http://jdk8.java.net/download.html) was released earlier this week which officially kicks off end-user developer engagement. We certainly know, however, that readers of this list are "ahead-of-the-game" and have probably been testing JDK 8 builds for quite some time. :-) We are still eager to hear your bug reports and feedback based upon usage of the jdk8 master preview builds or private builds.

"Keep those cards and letters coming in!",

JDK8 Lambda Team
