Can't say about Scala but I have 8 GB / 512 GB SSD Retina and it is
amazing
compared to my previous Macbook Pro, my only regret is that I was in such
a hurry to get this new machine that I could not wait for 16 GB to be
available...

SSD is simply great and memory being so cheap why skimp on that, it is not
as if you are going to buy a new computer every half year ....
