OT - Selecting a Mac for development

I think design is now being overly influenced by mobile devices... which is unfortunate in some cases. Mountain Lion does things that are great for the phone but I simply don't want that behaviour on my laptop especially if I'm using it for development work. It suggests that OSX isn't really the platform that I should be using for development work.

My feeling is that this question is really very simple. Hardware is a commodity product at this point in our history. Pick a price that fits your budget and survey the market for the laptop that gives you the best spec's for that budget. Apple doesn't do too badly when you take this approach.
