Intermittent display problems in JRE 7

I'm not nearly as familiar with the Macintosh as with Windows and couldn't figure out how to keep both JRE 7 and JRE 8, so I installed JRE 8 and the problem at http://www.segal.org/java/refresh goes away.  Unfortunately, the main screen painting display problem I actually care about is still there in JRE 8.  The Safari-specific bug at http://www.segal.org/java/Hello/ is still in JRE 8, but it sounds like that is something Apple needs to fix. 

I don't know how hard it will be to make a simple applet that demonstrates the problem.  I'm still going through my existing test applets, up to the letter H so far, and found the two other problems discussed above but not the most important one.  Hopefully I'll luck out and find a simple way to reproduce this in a simple applet.

If the folks at Oracle want to see the bug in the huge applet, I'd be glad to give access information and waive the requirement to be a medical professional to get access.  I can also show the problem via WebEx.
