Intermittent display problems in JRE 7

I’ve posted some screenshots of the display refresh problems we are seeing in our large applet at http://segal.org/java/refresh3/. This occurs also in Java 8 build 88.  Hopefully that will help people converge on the likely underlying problem.  

I will still try to find or create a test applet to reproduce this problem in a simpler context.  

The separate problem illustrated at http://segal.org/java/refresh/ is fixed by Java 8 build 88, and since it got fixed in version 8 and doesn't affect our real applet, it is fine to ignore that.  Unfortunately, the bug report is not available for me to post that update.  I understand that bug reports can take a few days to appear, but when I filed the bug report at http://www.segal.org/java/SigningTestApple/ the report never appeared (although I haven't seen the problem in in the most recent JRE 7 version so it may be that my report or a similar report from others was acted upon.
