Bug report: AtomicInteger is converted to a Number when returned from function

OK, so my goal is for my application to be stable on 8u40.

1) When is 8u40 scheduled to be released?
2) Will 8u-dev eventually be 8u40? Am I doing the correct thing by 
testing against 8u-dev?
