Hi Clemens,
I checked the Contributor Agreements at
http://www.sunsource.net/CA_signatories, and you are listed there.
Therefore you are eligible to contribute code to all products and
projects owned or managed by Sun. I am not sure why you did not get an
email confirming this. A query has been sent to the relevant department
in Sun about this.
Java Webstart has not been open sourced yet, but this is actively being
worked on and hopefully will be available under GPL soon. For now you
can still contribute to Webstart ( and other areas of the jdk ) through
the JDK 7 Project on https://jdk7.dev.java.net/collaborate.html.
Sorry, I believe all of the "I fixed the jdk" shirts are gone :-(
