Google Maps and WebView on Retina Mac

I just ran Google Maps inside a JavaFX WebView and was a bit shocked
when I saw how blurry the display was compared to the display of any
other browser on my MacBook Pro Retina. The other browsers seem to
correctly report the system screen resolution to the server so that it
can serve high resolution tiles for the map display and WebView
obviously does not. Is there anything that could be done about this?
