Yes, I've since downloaded the jdk-13 version and moved to experimenting directly with jpackage
without the ant component to reduce the number of variables.
Now the .app seems to be produced without errors (does not yet run though, need to get my ducks in a row first).
But the custom icons and other resources are not picked up.
I posted a question on the core-libs-dev list as this is what the https://jdk.java.net/jpackage/ page specified.
