I've just pushed a commit with a different fix:
private static final long CURRENT_PID = pid();
@SuppressWarnings("removal")
private static long pid() {
PrivilegedAction<ProcessHandle> pa = () -> ProcessHandle.current();
return AccessController.doPrivileged(pa).pid();
}
